SAMPLE DIALOGS
Dialog 1
TOM: I haven’t travelled for business in quite some time. I’m not even sure how to do it anymore.
JIM: Well luckily we’re just flying in and out for a meeting, so we won’t need to check a bag.
TOM: That does make it easier, since we’ll just have a carry-on.
JIM: Is it still like the old days, where you needed to arrive 3 hours ahead of your flight?
TOM: If you’re flying international, then definitely 2 hours is recommended, but since this is just a domestic flight, a solid hour in advance should suffice.
JIM: That little, really?
TOM: Yeah, with online check-in, these days in-country flights are much, much easier.
JIM: I’m almost looking forward to it, you’re making it sound so easy.
TOM: Yeah, it won’t be bad at all.
Dialog 2
TOM: Hi, is this Marko, from accounting?
JIM: Sure is, how can I help you?
TOM: Just calling to see if you have my travel order prepared.
JIM: Yep, everything is ready.
TOM: Could you just let me know, am I getting reimbursed per mile, or is it a flat rate?
JIM: For trips between capitals we have a flat rate because we send people so often that we know what to expect.
TOM: Aha, so could you tell me a little bit more about that?
JIM: Sure. So this time, since you’re driving round trip from Ljubljana to Belgrade, it’s a flat rate. But next month you’re going from Ljubljana, to Salzburg, to Torino, and back. For that you’ll get paid according to actual mileage covered.
TOM: Great Marko, thanks for the explanation.
JIM: No prob!
Dialog 3
TOM: We’re traveling to 5 non-EU countries on this trip, so we’ll be dealing with plenty of foreign currency.
JIM: Do you have any information on the exchange rate?
TOM: For most of our transactions, we’ll try to pay with credit card, so we’ll get up-to-the-minute conversion rates.
JIM: Yeah, good idea. But we’ll still need some cash, won’t we?
TOM: Definitely. Luckily we do a lot of business with Alabanka, so they’re willing to trade foreign currency to us without taking a commission.
JIM: I guess that’s the up-side of having a premium account, huh?
TOM: There are some other perks, for sure, but not having to pay extra on the euro when buying other countries’ money is definitely a plus.
JIM: Not like in some tourist areas, where you can pay up to 10 cents on the euro for exchanging.
Dialog 4
JIM: Excuse me, is this lost and found?
TOM: Yes it is, how may I help you?
JIM: Well it seems that my luggage is lost. I’ve been standing at the conveyor belt for an hour and there’s neither hide nor hair.
TOM: May I see you travel information, sir, so we can try and track it?
JIM: Of course, here you are.
TOM: Aha, I see. Looks like it was sent to Singapore instead of London. I’m not sure how that happened. Well, we are very sorry to report that, while we’ve located your lost bag, we unfortunately won’t be able to deliver it for another 2 days.
JIM: That will be a bit of a problem, as I’m supposed to be at a meeting already tomorrow. I had my suit in there, as well as all my toiletries.
TOM: We apologize for the inconvenience. Since it is entirely our fault, we are prepared to offer you a gift certificate to our duty free shop, where you can pick up some essentials for the next 2 days.
JIM: That would certainly be a good start, thank you!
Dialog 5
TOM: I’d like to buy this briefcase, please.
JIM: Of course, sir, anything else we can do for you today?
TOM: Yes, maybe you could recommend a larger suitcase to match, something in a set perhaps?
JIM: My pleasure. What kind of traveling will you be doing?
TOM: This is just for short business trips. I have a more substantial luggage set at home for vacations and extended travels.
JIM: I see. Well maybe I could interest you in this model right here.
TOM: It looks perfect, I’ll take it. Here’s my card.
JIM: I apologize, sir, but our POS terminal is down for the moment. I’m afraid we can only accept cash at the moment.
TOM: What about a traveler’s check?
JIM: Hahaha, sir, not since the 80’s, I’m afraid.
TOM: Yeah, thought so. Well, where is the closest ATM, then?
